In the meta-analysis of 16 GWAS, the minor G-allele of rs987237 in TFAP2B associated significantly with central obesity measured by WC (p = 1.9×10−11) and general obesity measured by BMI (p = 7.0×10−12 (stage 2 alone)) in the mixed-gender analysis [8]. The gene discussed is TFAP2B; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
