Recently, it has been proposed that two sequence variants in the promoter of the gene encoding human apolipoprotein C3 (APOC3, rs2854116 and rs2854117) were associated with hypertriglyceridaemia, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and insulin resistance in lean individuals of South Asian descent [5]. This evidence concerns the gene APOC3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
