There is a large shift in the minor allele frequency between Eastern and Western Polynesian sample sets, and such a change in allele frequency is consistent with that seen at another gout locus, ABCG2 (rs2231142) (the risk allele frequency is 0.29 in Western Polynesians, 0.13 in Caucasians and 0.10 in Eastern Polynesians) [19].
