Our previous in vitro studies have defined a novel pathway whereby n-3 PUFA-enriched LDL inhibits human breast cancer cell growth: the n-3 PUFA, DHA activates PPARγ which results in transcriptional up-regulation of the Sdc-1 target gene and the syndecan-1 (SDC-1) protein induces apoptosis [20], [21], [22]. Here, SDC1 is linked to breast carcinoma.
