Lipid kinases and phosphatases central to rab-regulated trafficking are targets of disease-causing mutations in humans (Lowes and Dents –OCRL1, corneal dystrophy –PIKFyve, ALS and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease – (CMT4J), neurologic and pigmentation disorders –FIG4 and kidney disease –INPP5E, OCRL1) (41–44). The gene discussed is OCRL; the disease is corneal dystrophy.
