The large sample size of our study allowed us to stratify for well-established prognostic tumour characteristics, and interestingly our data suggest that elevated CRP levels are associated with reduced overall survival irrespective of age at diagnosis, tumour size, lymph node status, presence of distant metastases, tumour grade, and estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER2 status. This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and neoplasm.
