Interestingly, a different pattern was found for the HER-2/neu gene, since about 60% of the signals were located in a peripheral position in chromosome 17 territory (Figure 1C) in the esophageal carcinoma, as well as in normal gastric mucus and gastric adenocarcinoma samples, whereas in the normal esophageal mucus, this was found preferentially in an internal position (66.54%). This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and carcinoma of esophagus.
