It has been documented that AAT deficiency is associated with the increased risk involved with several types of cancer, namely lung cancer (Yang et al., 1999, 2008; Topic et al., 2006), liver cancer (Propst et al., 1994), bladder cancer (Benkmann et al., 1987), colorectal cancer (Yang et al., 2000), and gall bladder adenocarcinoma (Callea et al., 1982b).
