Various studies have suggested that genetic deficits in adiponectin production or action may contribute to insulin resistance (Filippi et al., 2004), atherosclerosis (Kubota et al., 2002), and inflammation (Ouchi et al., 1999; Kubota et al., 2002; Tilg and Moschen, 2008), all of which are frequently associated with CAD.
