CD46 and Autoimmunity: Increased cells lyses is indirectly associated, through CD46, to reduced apoptosis, as shown by the decay of CD95 expression to 30% in patients with 60% of predicted FEV1, reinforcing the hypothesis that these patients will be at risk to develop autoimmunity also due to intrinsic dysregulation in the mechanism responsible for elimination of auto reactive T cells which favors necrosis over apoptosis.
