Other characteristics of NF-1 are flat, pigmented lesions of the skin (café au lait spots), axillary freckles, pigmented iris hamartomas (Lisch nodules), and a variety of central nervous system manifestations, such as optic nerve tumors, unidentified bright objects in the visual field, and neurofibromas of the spinal nerve roots (schwannomas) [10].
