Interestingly, FFAR1−/− animals are somewhat protected against the effects of a high fat diet (HFD), with reduced hyperinsulinaemia, glucose-intolerance or insulin-resistance compared to WT mice [5], and without the increases in hepatic steatosis, plasma triacylglycerol or hepatic glucose output seen in the WT mice [5].
