In vermis of people with autism, our laboratory has recently demonstrated the following: (1) reduction in levels of FMRP and GABRβ3 in adults with autism, (2) increased expression of metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) in children with autism and (3) increased glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in children and adults with autism [25]. This evidence concerns the gene GFAP and autism.
