Our results are in agreement with the previous studies that reported increased circulating levels of IL-6 in patients with advanced pathological stages of CRC.[10] Previous correlation between tumor tissue expression of IL-6 and serum concentration in CRC implies that increased systemic IL-6 might be a result of local tumor production.[24] These findings have encouraged us to suggest the possible role of IL-6 as a trigger for the disseminated cells to develop into metastatic tumors. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and metastatic neoplasm.
