Consistent with the relevance of the BPH/2J strain to the morning BP surge in human hypertension, the present study has identified the genes for aldehyde dehydrogenase family 1 subfamily A2 (Aldh1a2) and solute carrier family 8 (sodium/calcium exchanger) member 1 (Slc8a1), which are two genes identified in genome-wide association studies of hypertension [22], [23].
