PRLR and neoplasm: In Cox’s proportional hazards regression models including PRLR expression, T and N classification, tumour grade, as well as patient age and gender, we identified advanced tumour stages (stage I and II vs III and IV; HR=1.78, 95% CI: 1.03–3.05; P=0.034), nodal positive disease (nodal negative vs nodal positive disease; HR=2.20, 95% CI: 1.30–3.75; P=0.003) and high PRLR immunoreactivity (low vs high expression group; HR=3.70, 95% CI: 1.14–12.01; P=0.029) as independent prognostic variables with respect to overall survival.
