ADORA2A and Parkinson disease: Adenosine receptors are implicated in the pathophysiology of many neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease as well as ischemia (cerebral and cardiac) and inflammatory and immune diseases.17,18 The adenosine A2A receptor (A2AR) is therefore a potential target for treating many diseases, with the most advanced drug, preladenant, currently in phase III clinical trials for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.19
