One of the major problems of CF is a chronic inflammatory process [4], leading to elevated concentrations of several pro-inflammatory cytokines (i.e. IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β) and chemokines (i.e. IL-8), released from airway epithelial cells and found in the bronchoalveolar fluid of CF patients [5-8]. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and cystic fibrosis.
