In some of these cancers, tumor cells were shown to express both CXCL13 and CXCR5, suggesting a possibility for autocrine interactions, or CXCL13 was shown to be expressed in tissue surrounding tumors, raising the possibility that it could be directing the metastasis of tumor cells [16, 17, 35, 36].
