In their study of relatives of BRCA1 mutation carriers, they reported a 25-year contralateral breast cancer risk of 63% for women younger than 40 years of age at time of first breast cancer (annual risk 2.5%) compared with 20% for those older than age 50 years (annual risk 0.8%) (Graeser et al, 2009).
