The rare expression of all four factors in normal breast epithelial cells, and the high incidence of their expression in tumor cells in biopsies of all groups of cancer patients, indicate that the expression of the inflammatory chemokines CCL2 & CCL5 is coordinated with that of the inflammatory cytokines TNFα & IL-1β along stages of tumor development and progression in breast cancer. The gene discussed is CCL5; the disease is breast carcinoma.
