Although the function of the SOX2 signalling pathway as well as its downstream genes Oct 4 and Nanog in the development and maintenance of cancer stem cells is still being investigated, based on our experimental results, we propose that the SOX2 signaling pathway is involved in cancer stem cell development and that its deregulation can effectively suppress growth and metastasis of non-small cell lung carcinoma cells. This evidence concerns the gene SOX2 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
