Given the previously identified angiogenic phenotype of large cell lymphomas [11-18], and the evidence that VEGF and PDGF may promote lymphoma cell growth in both a paracrine and an autocrine fashion [19-21], the NCIC (NCIC) Clinical Trials Group undertook a phase II study to evaluate the efficacy of sunitinib in patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse or mediastinal (thymic) large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL and PMBCL) or transformed B-cell lymphomas. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
