Though GRP78, including single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in its 3′ untranslated region (UTR), were not associated with HBV infection, our previous study also showed that a common SNP (rs430397 G>A) in the intron 5 of GRP78 gene was associated with risk and prognosis of primary HCC [7], [8]. The gene discussed is HSPA5; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
