When estimating simultaneously the independent effects of ethnic identity and admixture (controlling for APOE genotype) African admixture was positively associated with dementia prevalence (PR 4.62, 95% CI 1.48-14.5), while estimated prevalence in 'mixed' (PR 0.54, 95% CI 0.30-0.96) and 'black' participants (PR 0.50, 95% CI 0.25-1.00) was significantly lower than among those identified as 'white' (Table 5).
