The FE65adaptor protein, which can bind to the amyloid protein precursor, simultaneouslyrecruits SET, a component of the acetyl transferase inhibitor, and the Teashirtprotein, which in turn recruits histone deacetylases, to produce a gene-silencingcomplex [45].Interestingly, decreasing expression of Teashirt (due to genetic or other causes)and increasing expression of caspase-4, a target of the silencing complex, werecorrelated with progressive cognitive decline in AD patients.
