Given previously reported association of elevated serum VLDL, ALT and GGT levels with hepatic steatosis in obese and type 2 diabetes subjects, and the positive effects of bariatric surgery to reverse hepatic steatosis and the levels of these markers [14], their decreased levels in our study likely reflect the reduction of hepatic fat and improvement in liver function following bariatric surgery. Here, GGT1 is linked to Hepatic steatosis.
