We selected genes withestablished roles in ovarian cancer (EPCAM,BIRC5), genes with established roles in cancers other than ovariancancer (EZH2, SMARCA4) and genes with limitedevidence for involvement in cancer (MAPK1, PAK2).EPCAM and BIRC5 served as proof of principlein our investigation since they are well known to be overexpressed in ovarian cancer[41], [42] and have beeninvestigated as therapeutic targets [43], [44]. The gene discussed is EZH2; the disease is ovarian cancer.
