Additional techniques for processing of whole mount preparations, paraffin-embedding, and microtomy were developed so that ACF and mucin-depleted foci could be further interrogated for the presence of dysplasia and for beta-catenin accumulation by immunohistochemical analysis, since beta-catenin accumulation is directly linked to colon cancer development [10,23-25]. The gene discussed is CTNNB1; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
