Hoang et al. demonstrated that 92% of MAC and 100% of trichoepithelioma were immunohistochemically reactive to CK15, whereas 0% of BCC showed immunoreactivity to CK15.[10] They also reported that 38% of MAC, 57% of DT, and 100% of MBCC were positive for BerEP4.[10] Another similar study by Smith et al. reported that all of their cases of MAC, MBCC, and DT were all negative for BerEP4.[9] Our current case is also negative for BerEP4. This evidence concerns the gene EPCAM and skin basal cell carcinoma.
