Cigarette smoking, male, older age (≥65 years), high MAGE level (≥3.4 mmol/L) and high hs-CRP level (> 5 mg/L) were found to be independent risk factors for the presence of CAD in T2DM patients, having OR 2.492 (p = 0.005), 1.936 (p = 0.036), 2.516 (p = 0.002), 2.612 (p = 0.002), and 2.851 (p = 0.009), respectively (Figure 3).
