As mentioned in the literature that EBV infection is widespread and 95% of all adults display serologic signs of previous infection, it is known that patients of RA have elevated levels of antibodies to latent and replicative EBV proteins and in particular to EBNA-1.[8–10] Anizilotti et al,[11] stated that antibodies specific for a deiminated VCP belonging to IgA and IgM isotype can be found in a few cases of RA.
