TLR5 and cystic fibrosis: Cells from CF patients exhibit an exaggerated inflammatory response to stimulation with P. aeruginosa[24]–[27], and we have previously identified interactions between flagellin and TLR5 as contributing to this phenotype using CF airway epithelial cell lines and primary CF peripheral blood mononuclear cells in vitro[4] and in a recent CF patient cohort candidate SNP analysis study [28].
