After two weeks of exposure to hypoxia, the rats transplanted with CXCR4 shRNA bone marrow cells had significantly lower pulmonary artery pressure, right ventricular hypertrophy and wall thickness of pulmonary arteries as compared with hypoxic control animals that received scrambled shRNA in bone marrow cells or were injected with bone marrow cells without shRNA. The gene discussed is CXCR4; the disease is Right ventricular hypertrophy.
