NPC demonstrates an intense leukocyte infiltration within the tumour tissue, mainly composed of T-cells and macrophages and with the noted expression of interferon (IFN)-γ, BLC (CXCL13), CD40, interleukin-1 (IL-1), several macrophage inflammatory and chemoattractant proteins and in a small number of cases (10%) CD30 [7-10]. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
