The ears of the L2LMP1CAO mice (the tissue where LMP1 is expressed at the highest level) and to a lesser extent other regions of body skin develop a preneoplastic pathology of hyperplasia with increased vascularisation, progressing to acanthosis, hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis and erosive or ulcerative dermatitis, which can lead to the development of keratoacanthoma, papilloma and ultimately carcinoma. The gene discussed is PDLIM7; the disease is keratoacanthoma.
