Influence of the parasite on hepatic cell proliferation when the parasitic infection becomes chronic is also supported by the up-regulation of metallothioneins (Mt) 1 and 2, Bcl2, and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (Igfbp1), and by the down-regulation of the cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor 1A (p21). This evidence concerns the gene IGFBPL1 and parasitic infectious disease.
