EGFR targeting with TKIs, such as gefitinib and erlotinib [10,30], has proven successful in molecularly defined subsets of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where specific mutations of the EGFR tyrosine kinase domain, but not protein expression, were predictive of the clinical efficacy [31]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
