It has been recently suggested that adipocytokines, such as TNF–alpha, IL–6, type–1 plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI–1), adiponectin, leptin, resistin, visfatin and apelin are associated with the risk of cancer at various sites (e.g., breast, prostate gland, endometrium and colorectum) [3–6].
