There was an insignificant negative correlation between the increased level of serum neutrophil elastase and pulmonary function tests in obese prehypertensive women, in agreement with Bizeto et al. [58], who found negative correlations between increased neutrophil elastase level and impairment of FVC, FEV1 and the FEV1/FVC ratio in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Here, ELANE is linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
