To investigate whether decreased adiponectin expression in epicardial fat can be used as a sensitive predictor of coronary atherosclerosis in non-obese patients, we examined the coronary sinus vein plasma levels of adiponectin and routine biochemical values, including TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, TC, FPG, apo AI, apo B and Lp(a), in peripheral vein of elderly male with body mass index (BMI) < 25.0, who received coronary angiography, a routine examination for patients over the age of 60 years undergoing cardiac surgery to exclude CAD. This evidence concerns the gene APOB and coronary atherosclerosis.
