There is now considerable evidence from studies of schizophrenia and other forms of psychoses, e.g., senile psychoses and L-DOPA psychoses, that a number of atypical antipsychotic agents such as clozapine and risperidone have also been found to have greater affinity for 5-HT2A than D2 receptors in vitro and are more effective with fewer side effects. Here, HTR2A is linked to schizophrenia.
