This differential modulating effect of BRCA1 mRNA expression was also observed in tumour cells isolated from malignant effusions of NSCLC or gastric cancer patients (Wang et al, 2008), as well as in patients with ovarian cancer (Quinn et al, 2007), where high BRCA1 mRNA levels correlated negatively with cisplatin sensitivity and positively with docetaxel sensitivity. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and gastric cancer.
