Given the clear evidence for elevated TGF-β1 signaling in myopathy and the reported concerns associated with blocking TGF-β1 signaling at the level of the receptor kinase, we sought to develop a quantitative cell-based screen for agents that overcome the anti-myogenic effect of TGF-β1 on the muscle satellite cell line C2C12. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and myopathy.
