We concentrated on small molecule inhibitors that inhibited infection in both cell types as well as the over-represented categories of ion pumps (EIPA), PI3K (Wortmannin), PKC inhibitors (Rottlerin, Chelerythrin Chloride), and calcium inhibitors (Thioridazine, Thapsigargin), many of which are known in mammalian cells to inhibit macropinocytosis. This evidence concerns the gene PRRT2 and infection.
