INS and Insulin resistance: Genome-wide association studies showed, that common functional variants of the GCKR gene are associated with fasting plasma glucose, insulin levels, and both serum triglycerides and low/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, thus, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs780094 and rs1260326 reduce fasting plasma glucose concentration and insulin levels and improve insulin resistance, while inversely increase fasting and postprandial serum triglycerides [7-16].
