In a study of 20 spindle cell metaplastic carcinomas, Leible et al. [40] found positive staining for p63 (70%), SMA (60%), S100 protein (45%) and CD10 (80%), in addition to frequent immunoreactivity for maspin, CD29, and 14-3σ (markers that appear to be preferentially expressed in myoepithelial cells). Here, SMN1 is linked to carcinoma.
