VEGFA and glioblastoma: The fact that (dalteparin + epirubicin) significantly inhibited angiogenesis, while the individual drugs at the doses given did not influence angiogenesis, is in line with results obtained for mice bearing the human U87 glioblastoma xenograft: in these mice, tumor growth was unaffected by daily s.c. injections of dalteparin alone or only moderately affected by SU5416 alone, whereas the co-treatment of dalteparin and SU5416 significantly decreased the level of VEGF in the tumors and strongly inhibited tumor growth (46).
