Further evidence in favor of the intrinsic apoptotic pathway inhibition by the infection was revealed by the behavior of the proapoptotic mitochondrial proteins of Bcl-2 family, namely: the Bcl-2-associated protein X (Bax); the p53-upregulated modulator of apoptosis (Puma); the pro-apoptotic (Bim); the Bcl-2-interacting domain (Bid); and Bad. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is infection.
