Elevated levels of several MMPs, like for example MMP-1, -2, -7, -9, -11, -12, -14, -15, -19, -24 and -25 have been reported in malignant glioma samples from patients [6,9-20], suggesting that their expression is closely related to malignant progression in vivo. The gene discussed is MMP1; the disease is malignant glioma.
