We have reported that amongst this high risk population (urban Indigenous Australians): levels of fibrinogen are similar to those previously reported for remote Aboriginal Australians but higher than those reported for Native Americans or Canadian Aboriginals; CRP was strongly associated with fibrinogen (in agreement with other studies [3,18,19]); and factor analysis revealed gender differences for clustering of fibrinogen and CRP with obesity and related metabolic factors. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
